Founded in 1865, Shaw University is the first historically black university in the Southern US.
Under the leadership of President Tashni-Ann Dubroy, Shaw University and our community of scholars are looking to transform the definition of the word 'epic'. Our campus, with more than 150 years of history as an institution of higher learning and social transformation for the City of Raleigh and beyond, visualizes the word as a mantra for living and creating for others an environment of excellence. We work everyday within our academic, athletic and social spaces to help our students actualize their potential as leaders.
